OUR MATERIALS
All our 9-karat gold items are 100% 9-karat gold. We do not offer plating or vermeil. 9-karat gold is a luxurious and hard wearing gold, perfect for lifetime wear as it does not tarnish easily.
Solid gold is the most valuable of gold you can buy, and will see the items denoted as a number followed by k/ct (karat/carat). Gold is described as being made of 24 parts, or karats. 9-karat gold is so named for the 9 parts or 37.5% of pure gold. The gold alloy is made up of this solid gold with silver, copper and zinc making up the remaining parts.
Gold vermeil/plated jewellery consists of a very thin layer of gold being electrically charged onto a base metal or sterling silver. Gold vermeil must consist of at least 2.5microns of gold coating, and plating 0.5microns. A micron is 0.001 of a millimeter. To give some context, 1 micron = 1 millionth of a metre, and the average human hair is 70 microns thick! So it is only a microscopic level of gold which does not compare in volume to a Solid Gold piece of jewellery. Gold Plated jewellery is the cheapest and lowest quality of the three metal types. They have an average lifespan of up to a year (with minimal exposure to moisture) and require regular re-plating in order to maintain their gold appearance.
For these reasons, we will always make our jewellery with pure gold rather than gold vermeil or plating.
CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY?
Remove your jewellery before you sleep. This can damage, misshape and break your jewellery.
Be mindful whilst wearing and always remove when playing sport. As it’s a soft metal, gold can be susceptible to bumps, scratches, and dents.
Remove your jewellery before getting in a pool or spa as exposure to chlorine will weaken the gold’s structure and eventually lead to it tarnishing and breaking.
Household cleaning products with acids or abrasives will damage your jewellery’s finish. We recommend using rubber gloves or removing your jewellery whilst cleaning.
Put your jewellery on last when getting ready as makeup, perfume, hairspray, and lotions can damage the appearance of your gold.
Don’t wear your jewellery in the bath or shower as a build up of products will leave a soapy residue on the gold and dull/tarnish your gold over time.
Cleaning advice
To ensure your gold jewellery continues to glimmer we recommend regular cleaning, which can easily be done at home:
Pop a few drops of mild washing up into liquid to a bowl of lukewarm water and soak your gold jewellery for 15 to 30 minutes. Don't use hot or boiling water, especially if your jewellery contains fragile precious stones. Equally, don't use freezing cold water because any dirt will become harder and more tricky to remove.
After soaking, gently scrub with a soft bristle toothbrush to get to any hidden dirt and grease. Next, rinse each item in warm running water to remove any remaining dirt.
Finally, lightly pat dry with a soft cloth and rest the jewellery on a towel to air dry completely before wearing.

NMRK Jewellery is not responsible for jewellery beyond a 7 day exchange period. If you encounter any issues, require repairs, or maintenance, please contact us, and we will do our best to assist you, though any associated costs will be your responsibility. Given the nature of Vintage & Antique Jewellery and their age and material, extra care and consideration must be taken when being worn. Therefore these pieces do not come with guarantees beyond the point of sale. I strive to source pieces for enduring wear and transparently communicate any defects in the listings. Each solid item undergoes a thorough check for gold content, authenticity, durability and standard cleaning and polishing. The accompanying photographs contribute to the items description, so please do look through them carefully. Any questions, please do get in touch.
CANCELLING AN ORDER

WARRANTY & AUTHENTICITY
Our 9-karat gold is ethically sourced and 100% 9-karat gold. We do not offer gold plating/vermeil items. Items over 1g of gold by law are hallmarked as proof of authenticity and are to meet strict regulations by The Assay Office, who are in charge of hallmarking. If items feel light, be assured this is due to the small size or hollow design. Items under 1g in weight do not require to be hallmarked, however, will have the stamp of factory/supplier as proof of gold authenticity.
